I was at the Upper for a few days this past week. It was pretty decent. Finding the fish seemed to be the hardest task. There were some spots where the fish were sipping dry flies constantly, mostly rainbows. Blue wing olives in size 16 - 18 worked best for me. There were also some pale morning duns that were around size 14 - 16 and there were caddis, mostly in darker colors, around size 16 - 18. For nymphs, I always seem to have luck on small baetis patterns or midges. Size 16 - 20 seems like the sweet spot for mayfly nymphs. Midges also work very well up there. Larger nymphs can serve as a good attractor or just help to get your smaller nymphs down faster. Small streamer patterns can work very well, specifically for the brook trout. Stealth is your friend on the Upper, I spooked three decent sized fish out of a pool. Bring the bug spray if you head up there, the mosquitos are relentless.
