CROOKED REPORT - 8/28/26
The Crooked continues to fish well with summer flows holding around 245 CFS. Cold releases are keeping the upper river in great shape, with fish spread throughout riffles, deeper runs, and softer transition water. With the reservoir continuing to draw down, keep an eye on flows heading into September as releases begin their seasonal change.
PMDs remain the most noticeable hatch, with opportunities to fish everything from emergers and duns to rusty spinners when fish are looking up. Caddis, smaller midges, and terrestrials are also in the mix, and hoppers and attractor dries remain good searching options through the warmer parts of the day.
Subsurface fishing remains the most consistent approach with scuds, Perdigons, smaller mayfly nymphs, soft hackles, and leeches all producing. Fish are feeding heavily on smaller naturals, so getting the depth and drift right remains pivitol.
