East Lake Update

East Lake Update

There are signs of algae beginning to come off in certain areas of the lake, but even with the algae we are still seeing signs of life above and below the surface. Callibaetis are coming off early to mid afternoons with the spinner hatch happening closer to dusk. Flying ants and beetles also for dries can be successful. It may take a couple of weeks for the lake to clear up again after the algae but to get below it is only a couple feet. Fishing under an indicator or stripping streamers when dry fly opportunities aren’t readily available is a tactic we like to utilize as well.

Suggested Dries: Parachute Callibaetis #14-16, CDC Flying Ant #14-16, Hackle Stacker Callibaetis #14-16, D&D Cripple #14-16, Last Chance Cripple #14-16,

Suggested Nymphs: Mighty May Callibaetis #14-16, Trigger Callibaetis #14-16, Bird’s Nest Depth Charge #14-16, Black or Purple Zebra Midge #16-18, Red or Black Ice Cream Cone #12-16, Juju Chironomid #14-16
