The fishing on the Crooked River has been a blast! We are having some great days out on the Crooked. Whether we are nymphing through the day or blind casting dries, we have been picking up a decent amount of fish. If you have the summertime blues and are sick of nymphing, blind casting small (sz 18-20) purple haze or parachute adams has been effective. There has been no real hatch yet fish are still eating dries from time to time.
If you are okay with nymphing, fishing under the indicator can be very effective. We are fishing small flies! Our go to dropper fly is a purple serendipity midge in size 20 or 22. Above that, we are fishing a hares ear, pheasant tail, anatomay in size 16 or 18. Fishing 6x fluorocarbon is key.
