The time is now, this is the last chance to take advantage of the incredible fishing the Upper Deschutes has to offer! Most of the stretch from Benham Falls up to Little Lava Lake is open through this upcoming Sunday, September 30 and will then close until next spring (there is a section that is already closed, see ODFW fishing regulations). Those who have been fishing the open sections of the Upper Deschutes have been seeing a lot of success, and finding some nice Browns, Brookies, and Rainbows. With the cooler weather most of the action will be subsurface, either with a couple of nymphs or a streamer pattern of some sort. There are still Caddis around, and a few small PMDs and BWOs to provide some opportunity to fish dries. The Upper Deschutes is definitely one to fish before it closes for the winter!
