LOWER DESCHUTES REPORT - 8/21/26

The Warm Springs boat ramp is now reopened following the Bench Fire

Caddis remain the primary hatch, with tan caddis and smaller dark micro caddis making up much of the activity. PMDs and Pale Evening Duns are still mixed in, giving fish additional opportunities to look up, especially during the cooler morning and evening windows.

Subsurface fishing remains productive with caddis pupa, stonefly nymphs, smaller mayfly patterns, Perdigons, soft hackles, and leeches all producing through the riffles and deeper seams. Steelhead and salmon angling closed August 15 due to the low wild steelhead return, but trout fishing remains open. There is still a possibility for the steelhead season to reopen September 15 if the next return threshold is met.
