Crooked River Update

Crooked River Update

The Crooked has fished well in the past couple of weeks despite the cold weather we’ve had this February. The cloudy days and precipitation have produced some solid BWO hatches on the right afternoon, and the nymphing has been consistent. The water is low and cold and fish are certainly more active when the temperatures aren’t frigid, so plan to fish mid-day and through the afternoon. The forecast looking forward is wet and snowy, but we should have plenty of cloud cover and temperatures look pretty reasonable for spending a day or two on the water. Be sure to have a decent selection of Hackle Stackers, Sparkle Duns, and other BWO patterns in sizes 18-22 in preparation for an early afternoon hatch. If it doesn’t happen, standard Midge nymphs in the same size range are tough to beat.

Suggested Dries: Hackle Stacker BWO #18-22, Sparkle Dun BWO #18-22, Purple Haze #18-22, Parachute Adams #18-22, Olive Haze #18-20, Parachute BWO #18-20, Griffith’s Gnat #18-22, Hatching Midge #18-22, ARF Midge #18-22
